The 2012 National K12 Championships that were held 30 November – 2 December at the Marriott Orlando World Center Resort, Orlando, FL had 10 players from Washington and Oregon attending.
Kyle Haining of Kellogg Middle School, Lake Forrest Park WA played in the 95 player 7th grade section and scored 5.5-1.5 tying for 5th-9th place just .5 point behind the 1st-4th place winners. In the same section were Olga Cherepakin of Lakeside Middle School living in Lake Forrest Park WA (4-3) and Konstant Velichko of Inglewood Jr. High in Sammamish WA (4-3).
Marcell Szabo of Lowell Elementary, Seattle WA placed clear first in the 131 player 6th grade section with 6.5-.5. Also in the section with a 4.5-2.5 score was Seth Talyansky of Portland Jewish Academy, Portland OR.
The 5th grade section of 125 players had Jan Buzek of APP at Lincoln, Seattle WA scoring 5-2 and Karen Haining of Ridgeway Elementary, Lake Forrest Park WA scoring 2.5-4.5.
The 4th grade section had 163 players and Marc Huang of Bellevue Children’s Academy scored 6-1 tying for 1st-6th place. Sean Alexander Van-zo-li of Catlin Gabel School in Portland OR scored 4-3 in this section.
The 3rd grade section had 145 players including Aaryan Deshpande of Audubon Elementary, Redmond WA scoring 5-2.
