2011 Washington State Championship / Premier / Invitational

The 2011 Washington State Championship / Premier / Invitational chess tournaments were conducted as round-robins the weekends of February 12-13 and 19-21, 2011 in Seattle as detailed below. Rounds began at 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM on the weekends, and at 5:00 PM on President's Day, Monday, February 21.

Championship

The winner of the Championship section receives the title of Washington State Champion.

Schedule and Other Information

Schedule/Location:
Rounds 1-8: Feb. 12, 13, 19, 20 at 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Round 9: Feb. 21 (President's Day) at 5:00 PM.
Site: Seattle Chess Club, 2150 N 107 St., Seattle, WA 98133.

Updates:

  • Fred Kleist will be the TD for all three sections, of which the Championship and Premier will be FIDE rated.
    (All sections will be USCF rated.)
  • The initial prize funds for each section are guaranteed by the WCF, and will be increased based on donations.
  • Due to limited internet accessibility, we do not plan to broadcast the games live this year.
  • Boards and sets will be provided at the tournament, but please bring clocks.
  • The time control will be 40/2, SD/1 with a 5-second delay.
  • The winner of the championship section receives the title of Washington State Champion.
  • Pairings were released after the drawing of lots, which took place Feb. 5 at 5:00 PM at Crossroads Mall in Bellevue. A number of players were there to witness the event. The crosstables below show the players in order by pairing number as drawn.

Requests:

  • We are accepting donations for all three sections.
  • Prize winners must annotate at least one game for Northwest Chess before checks will be mailed.
