2010 Washington State Championship / Premier / Invitational

The 2010 Washington State Championship / Premier / Invitational chess tournaments were conducted as round-robins the weekends of February 6-7 and 13-15, 2010 in Seattle as detailed below. Rounds began at 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM on the weekends, and at 5:00 PM on President's Day, Monday, February 15.

2/15: As reported by WCF president Duane Polich, "Washington has a new champion, HS sophomore Howard Chen who was last years Washington Junior Closed seed into the state championship and managed a respectable score in a strong field, was able to take it all this year. He was leading by a least a full point going into the last round and was playing Bill Schill when I left, looking to at least draw and probably win. This would probably be the second youngest player to win the state championship behind Yasser Seirawan."
