Fred Kleist returns as Northwest Chess editor

Northwest Chess is announcing today that Fred Kleist, a former editor of 70 issues of Northwest Chess magazine from 2002 to 2008, is returning as editor with the November 2011 issue, at least on a temporary basis. Editor Ralph Dubisch, responsible for 54 issues, most recently from November 2008 to date, agreed to step down due to family commitments. The Northwest Chess board thanks Ralph for his excellent service, and hopes that he will be able to serve NWC again in the future. Ralph’s last magazine as editor, the October 2011 edition, is due to be printed this week.

Kleist, an expert-rated chess player and life member of the U.S. Chess Federation and Washington Chess Federation, is well-known along with his wife Carol Mayer-Kleist, for outstanding support of chess at both the local and national level. Both Fred and Carol can often be found at the Seattle Chess Club.

Chess-related content for possible publication in Northwest Chess may be submitted to Fred Kleist by e-mail to kleistcf@aol.com. It is recommended that publisher Duane Polich (duane@combonate.com) be included on the cc: list. Any content of an advertising nature, or any content where payment is requested for publication, must also be submitted to and approved by business manager Eric Holcomb (eric@holcomb.com or info@nwchess.com).

Northwest Chess is a non-profit organization which publishes Northwest Chess magazine representing the Washington Chess Federation (WCF), the Oregon Chess Federation (OCF) and the Idaho Chess Association (ICA).
