2004 Oregon State Championship

May 1-2 and 7-9, 2004

Congratulations to Oregon champion Oleg Zaikov!

From Clark Harmon:

This year's Oregon Championship was held May 1-2 and May 7-9 at the Portland Chess Club. It was a 10 player round robin of the top rated Oregon players. It was both FIDE and USCF rated. Time control was 40/2, SD/60. Prizes: 1st $250, 2nd $150, 3rd $100. Two games were played per day at 11 AM and 5 PM, with a game at 7 PM Friday May 7th. Eligibility was according to OCF bylaws. The bylaws call for a 15 game activity requirement. Each game less than that played in Oregon in 2003 resulted in a 10 point adjustment downwards of the players rating for qualification ranking. For instance, if you rating is 2200 and you played no rated games in Oregon in 2003 your rating was adjusted down 150 points (10 x 15) for a qualification rating of 2050.
